A SMALL(ER) WORLD

Connecting the World Online (per.1 Georgia, Preston, Shashanna, Annie) (per.4 Savannah, Jessie, Charmaine):
You will explore the different ways that people, business, organizations, etc. have become connected to each other using the World Wide Web.

Web 2.0 tools for sharing information (per.1 Jacob, Dakota, Michelle, Phillip) (per.4 Vanessa, Jo, Kiara Y.):
What are some of the Web 2.0 tools that people use to share information with each other? How are they being used? What are the most versatile tools (the ones that can do the most)?

Mobile is everywhere (per.1 Colton, David, Eva, Payton) (per. 4 Tim, Tristen, Ryley, Kade):
People are relying more and more on mobile devices to work, play, and connect for work and for play. Devices like cell phones, smart phones, iPods, and iPads are everywhere. How are these devices changing how people work, play, and connect?

Virtual Communications (per.1 Jacen, Hattan, Raeanne, Allen) (per. 4 Eric, Kody, Marrin):
The old telephone and the mail used to be the only way people who weren’t in the same room could connect. Now people have a variety of options for communicating with each other – many of them are virtual face to face. Tell more about these and how they are changing the way we live, work, and play.

Google Everything (per.1 Flynt, Joseph, Katrice) (Ariana, Kiara N., Gage, Rylee):
It seems Google is taking over the world! How has Google and it’s various Google tools made communicating, collaborating, and creating even easier – and all in one package?

THESE PROJECTS WILL BE SET UP ON ONE WIKI FOR EACH GROUP – DETERMINE WHICH GROUP MEMBER WILL HOST THE MAIN PROJECT WIKI. MAKE SURE ALL GROUP MEMBERS ARE A MEMBER OF YOUR WIKI. SET UP A NEW PAGE CALLED “A SMALLER WORLD”. THAT ONE SPOT IS WHERE ALL OF YOUR WORK WILL BE POSTED.

Also remember - we are exploring stories and examples that show new ways these tools are being used, and how they are changing the way people work and spend their time outside of work. NOWHERE are you being asked to define these ideas - DON'T! That is pretty well understood - no one needs lengthy explanation of what gmail, YouTube, or Facebook is, what a cell phone is, or how the internet works. You will probably talk about these things but don't define them - we all know what they are!

All projects must include –

1. A written introduction– talk about it. All group members must include their ideas/viewpoints about this- at least one paragraph each. Edit each other's to make sure ideas are not repeated or do not contradict each other.

2. Each group member must contribute at least 3 links to valid articles that discuss this idea further.

3. Each group member must contribute at least 1 graphic (picture, map, illustration, chart, etc.) that helps to explain or symbolize this idea. MUST include a link to the source of the picture underneath the picture.

4. Each group member must make a video clip that they are in that tells or shows the story of this idea – the team must collaborate to decide what the video will be about and come up with an idea, but then each member must film their own scene. Each member must be in their own scene, but can include anyone else, even those outside of your group to be in your video scene. Film them on your own iPads. When they are all done, the group will come together to combine the videos into one pulled together video that tells your story, then post it on your wiki.
