Digital Story Telling – Group Stories

You (alone) OR you and a partner are to come up with a story starter. Use the Idea Sketch app on your iPads to brainstorm a good (hopefully unique) idea, or just do an internet search for "story starters". I need to see the story starters FIRST before you begin your work. Most of the work can be done on your iPads, but you will probably need to use a computer to put the project together.

  1. These will be video stories – movies. But you will only be acting out the first scene of your story. The beginning idea of your story needs to be clear in your video. Use CuePrompter for your script. Please feel free to use any sound effects or even green screen to help make your story setting authentic.
  2. You will then show another person or pair your video. That person/group is to continue your story (any way they want, using any effects they want) with another scene to add. When they are done, they need to email you the scene they have made. It needs to “fit” with the first scene. You are to then add their scene to your iMovie.
  3. Show your 1st and 2nd scenes to ANOTHER person/group – they are also to add a scene (anything they want as long as it “fits” with the first 2 scenes). They are to email their scene to you when they are done.
  4. Continue this until you have ATLEAST 5 clips and your story is wrapped up. Make sure you let the 5th group know that you would like them to bring the story to a logical end. If this can’t happen, you may need to add more scenes. You can have more than 5 scenes if you choose, but 5 is a minimum. When you have gathered all of your scenes, edit it to put in transitions, add text screens, a title screen, and a credits screen at the end that includes the names of all who contributed to your story (no last names).
  5. Your grade will be based on your completion of all of the above requirements.

REMEMBER - STORIES HAVE A BEGINNING, A MIDDLE, AND AN END! THEY INVOLVE A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. THE VIEWER NEEDS TO UNDERSTAND WHAT IS HAPPENING! STORIES CAN BE FICTION OR NON-FICTION. STORIES CAN BE DRAMA, COMEDY, HORROR, SUSPENSE, FANTASY, OR MYSTERY.
